Kasi – Rameshwaram Yatra

Those who go to Kasi yatra should first visit Rameshwaram and take ritual bath in the holy theerthas, then worship the Lord Ramanathar. Take some sand from the Sethu shore and offer pooja to the sand idols and take it to Triveni to dissolve it. In Varanasi worship Kasi Vishwanadhar and bring Ganga water to perform abhishek for Lord Ramanadhar in Rameshwaram which concludes the Kasi – Rameshwarm Yatra.

Below we have explained the steps to follow once the pilgrims reach Rameshwaram.

1 Dhanushkodi
  • According to shastra, one should sit on the banks of Sethukara (Shore) and draw bow and arrow of Lord Rama on the shore and perform the Lord Rama pooja. Then after Mahasangalp, the pilgrim should take ritual bath for 36 times in Sethu (Dhanushkodi Beach).
  • Take sand from the shores of Sethusamudra and hold it tightly with your palm to craft the three lingas called Sethu Madhava, Veni Madhava and Bindu Madhava and perform poojas for each lingas.
  • Sethu Madhava is dissolved on the shore of Sethu and Veni Madhava is taken in the hand to dissolve in Triveni Sangamam (Allahabad) and Bindu Madhava should be donated to a Vedic Pundit at that place.
2 Rameshwaram Temple Vist Rameshwaram from Dhanushkodi and then take a dip in the 22 holy teerthas in the temple. There are more than 50 holy theerthas in Rameswaram and the fields around it. Read more on Sethu Yatra.
3 Rameshwaram Temple Procedure for worshiping Lord Ramanathar
  • Kasi Vishwanathar dharshan
  • Ramanathar Parvathavarthini dharshan
  • Hanuman dharshan
  • Sethu Madhava dharshan
One should follow the same order as mentioned above
4 Rameshwaram If we go to Kshetra we have to do shrartham (thithi) thus we perform Kshetra shrardham (thithi) by offering pinda and dissolving it in Agni Tirtha or Dhanushkodi.
5 Kaatu Pillayar kovil (Rameshwaram) After finishing the Ramanadhar dharshan, visit Kaatu Pillaiyar Kovil and worship Lord Ganesha to get relieved from dhosha before leaving Rameswaram. (Dhosha: As Ramalingam was crafted by Sita using the sand of Rameshwaram it is believed by our ancestors that the entire stretch of this Holy Rameshwaram is by itself a Shiv Ling. The pilgrims who visit the sacred land of Rameshwaram without their intention eliminate their human wastes on this holy land which in turn causes dhosha to them. In order to get rid of this dhosha, it is in practice to visit Kaatu Pillaiyar Kovil at the end of the pilgrimage)
6 Allahabad, Gaya & Kasi Go to Allahabad, Gaya & Kasi and do things according to the procedure. Finally visit Kasi and bring Ganga theertha to Rameshwaram.
6 Rameshwaram Anoint (Abhishekam) Sri Ramalingam by the Ganga theertha which is brought from Kasi. Then before leaving Rameshwaram go to the Wild Pillaiyar Temple and worship Lord Ganesha.

By doing the above mentioned procedures, one’s pilgrimage is complete.

Kasi Rameswaram Yatra Package

Those who plan for Kasi yatra should first visit to Rameswaram. Pilgrim has to take handful of sand from the Sethu shore (Dhanushkodi), offer pooja to the sand idols and take the sand to Triveni Sangam (Allahabhad) to dissolve it. Activities

  • Private A/C car will be arranged to transfer the Pilgrim from Rameswaram Railway station/Madurai Railway Station or Airport to Hotel in Rameswaram. CHECK – IN
  • 7:00 AM – Morning Private Car or Van will be arranged to travel Dhanushkodi from Rameshwaram in order to perform Pooja along with Vedic Pundit. While returning from Rameswaram,we visit Kodhanda Ramar Temple (Place Where Vibhishana Surrendered to Lord Rama).
  • 9:30 AM – Once you reach Rameswaram, we arrange you to take ritual baths in 22 types of Holy water inside the temple and in Agni Theertha (Rameswaram Beach).
  • 11:30 AM – At noon, we perform Sraardham (Thithi) and offer Bhojana to Vedic Pundits in Rameswaram. (Bhojana to Vedic Pundits is not applicable for non brahmins)
  • 4:00 PM – In the evening, we visit the temple to Dharshan Lord Ramanathar and Parvathavardhini, Kattu Pillayar Temple and return to Hotel. (Main Shrine).
  • 7:30 PM – Private A/C car will be arranged to transfer you from the Hotel to the Rameswaram Railway station/Madurai Railway Station/Airport.

Note:

  • If the pickup and drop is from Madurai Railway Station/Airport an additional amount of Rs. 5000 is to be paid.
  • A person will be always with you to guide at all places.

  • Perform Ganga pooja in the morning (Rudhra Japa). Take Ganga water to temple to perform Abhishek to Lord Ramanthar.

  • After reaching Rameshwaram from Dhanushkodi solid drink like Wheat Porridge or Juices, Coffee, Tea will be arranged. (Morning Breakfast is not advisable because of performing Sraardha (Thithi)).
  • Bhojana for Vedic Pundits will be arranged.
  • For Pilgrims, lunch will be arranged at the time of Bhojana to Vedic Pundits(Full Meals will be provided).
