According to the vedas, it is said that every human is born with three debts in their life and they are; godly debts, sage debts and ancestor debts. By the performing of Shraadham, thithi, tharpanam one clears his ancestral debts, says the Vedas.
By abiding and listening to the words of parents when they are alive and after their death by performing the shardham rituals every year time on time, and also by giving pindam (rice balls) in GAYA to them he becomes the righteous son of his parents says the Shastras in Hinduism.
Let aside what Vedas and Shastras say, in reality this body is given to us by our parents. The mother, who goes through all the physical pain to bear her child right from the time she is pregnant, into her delivery and growing the child by staying awake day and night. Though one may have large amount of money, wealth, or property one is always indebted to their parents, which can never be repaid.
It is said that a year for us is one day for the ancestor soul. It is strongly believed in the Shastras, that the parents and the ancestors eagerly wait for their children to perform the righteous rituals of Shraadham so that they can receive it. Whenever we perform proper rituals of Thithi or Shraadham, no matter whatever birth they take in their next births, good or bad they receive the appropriate food in appropriate time according to the Shastra. Hence it our fundamental duty to perform shraadham (thithi) to our ancestors.
When one performs yearly thithi, with his whole heart of love and care towards his ancestors, he gets all the essential and above things spiritually and materialistically in this world such as a disease free long life, a blessed tree of family heir and generations, wealth, grains and all possible happiness in his life.
It is ascertained that if one fails from performing this fundamental duties of Shraadham one gets Pitru curse or ancestral curse. Does this mean that our own ancestors curse us? The eagerly waiting ancestors, if they don’t get their rightful food or offering from their children; a mere hefty breath of them itself is considered as curse according to Shashtras.
One who doesn’t perform Shraadham goes to much lower levels in his upcoming births according to shashtras.
It is the best of my advise and suggestions that you perform your rightful duty for your parents and ancestors every year on their thithi and keep doing it till your end of life to obtain all happiness and wealth in your life. This is my prayers and request for you.
